GREENSBORO – Jeri Whitfield, a partner at Smith Moore LLP, has been elected President-Elect of the 18th Judicial District Bar for 2005-06.  She will be president of the bar in 2006-07.

Whitfield will be responsible for presiding at the annual meeting, as well as presiding over special meetings to make budget recommendations and to endorse nominees for judicial vacancies in the 18th Judicial District.

Whitfield has practiced law in Greensboro since 1977 with Smith Moore and its predecessor firms.  Her law focus consists of workers' compensation, litigation, labor and employment, and toxic tort litigation.

The 18th Judicial District Bar is the organization of licensed lawyers residing in Guilford County.  The bar is comprised of approximately 1300 lawyers in the county.

Whitfield was elected last month at the annual bar meeting held in Greensboro.
