July 25, 2005

Practice areas, individual attorneys draw praise in annual ratings by Chambers and Partners.

GREENSBORO – Smith Moore LLP, a law firm with offices in Atlanta, Raleigh, Greensboro, and Wilmington, NC, is included in the 2005 listing of "America’s Leading Business Lawyers."  The listing is released each year by Chambers and Partners, a London-based publisher of reference guides that identify and rate lawyers practicing around the world.

Smith Moore was cited for excellence in its Labor and Employment, Environmental, Litigation, and Real Estate practice areas, with the Labor and Employment area receiving Chambers and Partners’ highest rating.

Attorneys Martin Erwin, Steve Earp, J. Donald Cowan, and Larry Sitton, all of whom practice in Smith Moore’s Greensboro office, received individual rankings placing them among the premier lawyers in the U.S. in their respective practice areas.  Erwin, Cowan and Sitton earned the publisher’s highest possible individual ratings.

The Chambers and Partners listings and ratings are based on research conducted by the publisher.  Chambers and Partners spent eight months interviewing attorneys and their clients before compiling the listing.
