Greensboro, N.C. — Smith Moore Leatherwood is pleased to announce the addition of Michael D. Jefferson to the firm's Greensboro office. Michael's practice encompasses construction law, real estate and commercial litigation, financial services litigation, and creditors' rights litigation. His construction practice focuses on the representation of owners, lenders, contractors, and specialty subcontractors in a range of construction-related disputes, including delay claims, change order disputes, lien and bond claims, and construction defect claims.
He received his law degree from Emory University School of Law where he was a member of the Hispanic Law Society and the International Law Society. Michael earned his bachelor's degree from the Wake Forest University, where he founded and served as president of the Organization of Latin American Students. Additionally, he is a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Marine Corps Reserves (2009-Present) where he served as a Judge Advocate (2009-2014).
