Pro Bono

Smith Moore Leatherwood holds a long-time commitment to providing significant free legal services to low income people.  Our rewarding service ranges from staffing legal clinics at a homeless shelter, to accepting referrals from Legal Aid of North Carolina, to representing defendants charged with capital crimes, to participation in the Justice 4 All campaign.  By giving back, we have an opportunity to improve the justice system by making it accessible to people of limited means, to shape and become integrally connected with the community in which we live, and to learn more about ourselves.  It makes us better rounded citizens, but of pinnacle importance is the difference it makes in the lives of the recipients… one case at a time.  One attorney can make a difference, one firm can make a difference, but it takes the legal community as a whole to meet the need.
