RALEIGH, N.C. —Matt Cunningham, an attorney and partner in Smith Moore Leatherwood's Raleigh office, recently received the Triangle Business Journal's "40 Under 40" leadership award. This award honors Cunningham's success as a leader within Smith Moore Leatherwood and the community.
Cunningham focuses his practice on corporate, finance and commercial real estate law. He was recently appointed co-chair of the Wake County Bar Awards Committee for 2012. He is a member of the North Carolina and the Wake County Bar Associations, as well as the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising.
Cunningham is the president of the SPCA of Wake County Inc. and has served on the board of directors for several years. Additionally, he dedicates many hours to pro bono work each year, including participating in the development of a platform for significant statewide science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education initiatives. He has also helped form a charity that provides modified, "easy access" t-shirts to chronically ill and hospital-bound children as a more comfortable and kid-friendly alternative to hospital gowns. He also serves on the finance committee of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Raleigh.
Cunningham will be recognized during the "40 Under 40" leadership award ceremony at Prestonwood Country Club on May 17. The Triangle Business Journal's "40 Under 40" list recognizes 40 leaders under the age of 40 each year who have made significant contributions to their organizations and the community.
