Business Leader Magazine recognizes attorneys for leadership and community involvement

GREENSBORO, NC — Business Leader magazine has tapped four partners from Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP as "Movers & Shakers" who are making a positive impact on both their business and their community. Rob Marcus, managing partner of the firm's Charlotte office, Alex Audilet and Lisa Garrison, partners in the firm’s Greensboro office and Ted Edwards, a partner in Raleigh, were each named a Mover & Shaker in their respective markets.

Marcus is a member of the firm's litigation practice and vice chairman of the firm's management committee. He focuses his practice on complex commercial and appellate litigation. Beyond his service to Smith Moore Leatherwood, Marcus is active as a speaker at the national level through his involvement in the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. Meanwhile, he has been consistently recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America in Woodward/White's listing and as a North Carolina Super Lawyer by Law and Politics magazine.

Audilet is a leader in the firm's corporate group and has extensive experience handling legal issues related to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, private placements, business counseling and finance. In 2010, he was recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America in Woodward/White’s listing of Corporate Law attorneys.

Garrison works with a wide variety of industries and issues as a member of the firm's litigation practice. Much of her practice focuses on defending hospitals and health care professionals, while she also maintains an active antitrust litigation and complex product liability litigation practice. Garrison was a recent selection by Law & Politics magazine for inclusion in the 2009 listing of North Carolina Super Lawyers – Rising Stars, and was listed in Woodward/White's 2010 list of the Best Lawyers in America.

Edwards is a member of the construction/real estate/development practice group in the firm's Raleigh office. He has provided counsel and legal service in many of the Triangle's commercial development projects, including preparation of the construction contracts for the RBC Bank headquarters. Edwards too, was a was a recent selection by Law & Politics magazine for inclusion in the 2009 listing of North Carolina Super Lawyers – Rising Stars, and was listed in Woodward/White's 2010 list of the Best Lawyers in America.
