Former Smith Moore Partner Earns Distinguished Service Award

May 18, 2006

GREENSBORO – Stephen Millikin, recently retired from Smith Moore LLP, has received the highest individual honor given by the Greensboro Bar Association.  Millikin was presented the association's Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes members who have "demonstrated deep devotion and constant commitment to the practice of law, to the administration of justice, to unselfish service to the community, and to the highest ethical standards."

"Steve's tremendous legal skill, professionalism, tireless work ethic, and positive spirit were inspirational to all Smith Moore attorneys who had the privilege to work with and learn from him over the last half century," said Smith Moore managing partner, Steve Earp.  "We are all very proud of him for receiving this well-deserved honor."

Millikin was a civil litigator, and his practice included both commercial and tort litigation.  He was a long-time partner with Smith Moore having first started with the firm straight from law school in 1952.  Millikin is a member of the Greensboro, North Carolina, and American Bar Associations, and is a retired Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
