Fifty-Three Smith Moore Leatherwood Attorneys Named to "Best in America" List

GREENSBORO, NC – Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP attorneys populate Woodward & White's list of The Best Lawyers in America as a record-breaking 53 from the firm were selected for inclusion in 2009.  In all, 15 Smith Moore attorneys earned the distinction of being named to the list ten or more times, while the firm scored top practice area rankings in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

"This list is an indicator of the quality of attorneys who practice with Smith Moore Leatherwood and their standing among their peers," said Steve Earp, managing partner of Smith Moore.  "We're extremely proud of the increase in the number of our attorneys, from 32 to 53, as it reflects our success in providing quality service to our clients, and our strategy of expanding our capabilities and attorney lineup throughout the Southeast."

The firm was rated first in North Carolina in alternative dispute resolution, appellate law and non-profit/charities law, tops in South Carolina in legal malpractice law and professional malpractice law and number one in Georgia in insurance law.  The Greensboro office, which scored top marks in 17 total categories, led all Greensboro law firms with 30 total attorneys on the list.  Meanwhile, the Greenville office scored top marks in five different categories, followed by Raleigh, which was first in three categories, and Charlotte and Atlanta, which scored top marks in one category each.
