Overview

Smith Moore Leatherwood's Business Litigation Team represents leading companies across a wide range of industries in significant, complex disputes. We have the reputation and experience to handle business litigation across a gamut of industries including technology, consumer products, chemical, manufacturing, health care, banking, insurance, and real estate.

Our skilled attorneys have the courtroom experience to handle a case through trial and appeal, yet also understand that building a case toward settlement may be better for a business than the emotional and financial cost of litigation. We pride ourselves in understanding our client’s needs and goals, and working with them to find creative legal solutions to the challenges they face.

Many of our business litigators are members of the American College of Trial Lawyers and are recognized by their peers and clients as being among the best in the Southeast. Chambers USA has ranked our business litigation practice as a Band 2 in North Carolina, and Band 3 in South Carolina. SuperLawyers has named 15 of our team members to their NC and SC lists in Commercial Litigation. Best Lawyers has ranked our firm as # 1 in North Carolina for Appellate Law, Antitrust Law; and seven of our litigators in North and South Carolina have been recognized as Best Lawyers in Commercial Litigation. Seven of our litigators were recognized for their work by Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite, and Smith Moore Leatherwood led all law firms in the state with 24 attorneys recognized by this publication overall.

From simple contract disputes to complex multi-party, multi-million dollar litigation, our Business Litigation Team is comprised of dozens of trial and appellate lawyers in seven offices in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia who handle cases in state and federal courts throughout the Southeast and the United States.
