Attorneys join the Charlotte and Charleston offices

Smith Moore Leatherwood recently expanded its offices with the addition two attorneys in the firm's Charlotte, N.C. and Charleston, S.C. offices. The attorneys bring new depth and experience to the firm's Real Estate Group.

Charlotte, N.C.

  • Catherine Bell Mitchell has joined the firm's Charlotte office as an associate. Mitchell's practice will focus on commercial real estate transactions, representing both lenders and developers. Specifically, she will assist lenders in real estate financing and counsel developers and investors in the acquisition, disposition and leasing of commercial properties. Prior to joining Smith Moore Leatherwood, Mitchell represented national lenders in mortgage-related litigation in Charlotte.

Charleston, S.C.

  • Stephanie Grunthal Hess has joined the firm's Charleston office as an associate. Hess' will focus her practice on representing local, regional, and national developers and lenders with the acquisition, development, financing and disposition of commercial real estate. Hess will also assist lenders and developers with structuring and negotiating loan workouts and loan restructurings of real estate secured loans. Prior to joining Smith Moore Leatherwood, Hess practiced in the areas of creditors' rights, foreclosure, commercial real estate, bankruptcy and corporate law. She represented lenders in litigation of creditor and debtor issues in State and Bankruptcy Court, including foreclosures, suits against borrowers and guarantors, and claim and deliveries.
