SML Presenting Sponsor for Uwharrie Charter Academy Sustainable Business Forum

September 10, 2013 - September 10, 2013

SML is presenting sponsor for the Uwharrie Sustainable Business Forum, a community outreach program of Uwharrie Charter Academy, held on Tuesday, September 10th at 7 p.m.

The focus of the forum is on educating businesspeople, teenagers, and others in the Uwharrie area (Randolph, Davidson, Moore Counties, etc.) on sustainable business practices. Lisa Garrison will be speaking at this event along with some of our student leaders of the “Forum” from Uwharrie Charter Academy, a firm client. Attorneys are welcome to attend this event.

This interactive program will feature an overview of ideas from the new book, Conscious Capitalism (authored by John Mackey, the co-founding CEO of Whole Foods Market, and Raj Sisodia) on the positive power of capitalism and identifying a higher purpose for for-profit businesses, followed by a panel discussion by local businesspeople/leaders and audience Q&A on our topic. Dress is business casual.

Panelists will include Ben Owen III of Ben Owen Pottery in Seagrove, Laura Jensen Thornburg of Studio J Dance Center in Asheboro and Troy, and Eddie Voncannon of Able Carpet and Rug Cleaning in Asheboro.
