The firm is committed to environmental stewardship and to conserving our natural resources. The firm's Atlanta office is in a LEED® Certified Gold building. Our Charleston office is in the first building in that city to be LEED® Certified in Core & Shell. All of our offices are located in urban centers, where employees and visitors can walk to local courthouses, other office buildings, restaurants, shopping and health centers, and the like. The firm encourages the use of its firm-wide video conferencing, telephone conferencing, and tele-commuting resources when feasible. The firm recycles 100% of its office paper waste and uses paper from certified sustainable forests. All offices offer water coolers and many offer fountain drinks instead of bottles or cans. All Smith Moore Leatherwood personnel are encouraged to use electronic document storage and distribution, double-sided printing, de-duplication of stored materials, and other paper-saving methods. Our employees are also encouraged to reduce power usage, walk, and use mass transit when possible, with firm reimbursement of some of their mass transit expenses.
