Community Service

Smith Moore Leatherwood has a long history of giving back to our local communities. Each year, our firm makes sizeable donations and supports events for a variety of worthwhile charities. For example, we gather gently used professional clothing for people trying to re-enter the workforce, help to build homes through Habitat for Humanity, take groups to Mexico to build homes for the disadvantaged, and provide toys to hospitalized and disadvantaged children. Every office does periodic food drives for the hungry and offers gifts and practical items to families in need during the holiday season. Several offices staff attorney hotlines for people in need.

One of Smith Moore Leatherwood's newest initiatives is "Meals on Heels," a program in which we invite local businesswomen and their children to partner with our women attorneys in serving the hungry. Our first "Meals on Heels" event involved assembling 1,000 non-perishable weekend food packs for hungry school children served by Back Pack Beginnings. We also support efforts to encourage sustainable business practices and education.
